Today is WORLD THEATRE DAY.
Last year, I celebrated WORLD THEATRE DAY by honouring three plays I had seen in January and February 2024.
This year, I celebrate WORLD THEATRE DAY having accepted an invitation to stage my play WHEEL AND TURN at the inaugural Fringe Windsor Festival.
This is a dream come true and part of me doesn’t feel ready for what this new chapter might bring. And on the other hand, I feel like I’ve been preparing it for it since the time I played the Story Lady in my school play in the 5th Grade, staged my first short play in high school, and attended Cats (my first musical) thanks to my elementary school music teacher who was obsessed with taking us to live theatre.
I’m thrilled, excited, hopeful, and maybe a little frightened. But, as they say, it’s good to try something that scares you every once in a while.
Happy WORLD THEATRE DAY and thank you so much to all of the playwrights, actors, actresses, and directors, especially in #Toronto, who have inspired, entertained, and motivated me.
Thank you also to @workingthesceneincolour for selecting my scene last year for a live virtual reading by actors. Thank you also to actor/theatre professionals @sashoyasimpson and @najlanubyanluv for doing my first table read of the full play and your encouragement. Thank you to all who believe in me.
Here’s to a new journey! Stay tuned for more news!
