Black History Month is the busiest month of my year. This past February, for example, in a five day period, I delivered 7 presentations in 4 schools, 2 keynotes, 2 workshops, and 2 book signings at 3 conferences, and a story time at a local library. I am my own assistant, social media manager, speech writer, tour director, and driver. Recently I was clinically diagnosed with severe ADHD, which for me means that I have challenges maintaining prolonged interest in TV and web series, reading novels, keeping track of characters, and even writing and editing my own novel manuscripts. So, how did I manage to watch a 500 minute series of videos within two days in my busiest week in February? How did one ordinary woman’s story, without the pacing of a Hollywood film, capture my attention… for eight hours?
